Concrete Finishing Options Halifax NS

Now that you are aware of what concrete and the different uses for concrete, you can start looking at the different types of Concrete Finishing Options and what the benefits are to each of the most popular finishing types are.

Halifax Concrete Refinishing has a vast range of options available to suit your need and your budget

Trowel Concrete Finish

Our team is Fully experienced with Hand or Powered Trowel Finishing. This finish is commonly used for basement floors, and covered porches.

It is a labor and time-intensive process as the skilled professional need more time for the concrete to dry and harden just enough for the finisher to walk behind the trowel finish machine, there is also a very small time-window that the surface has to be sealed before the concrete become too hard.

Trowel finish is easy to clean and maintain.

Our team is all licensed to work with power tools and follow strict maintenance on our machinery while following the necessary safety protocols when handling any of our electrical equipment.

Broom Finished Concrete

A broom-finished concrete floor is not a smooth finished floor. The technique involved when doing a Broom Finished Concrete floor differs with each individual finisher's technique.

A special concrete broom is used and the broom is pulled across the surface back and forth to create a pattern.  As you can imagine this finish is rough in texture and due to this, much harder to clean.

This finishing option does not need to be closed by hand, but as our team strives for excellence, we do recommend the surface be closed by hand. Broom Finished Concrete floor is very appealing to the eye and has good traction overall.

Exposed Aggregate Concrete Finish

Exposed Aggregate Concrete is just what the name suggests, the aggregate is exposed through a specific process that removes the cement from the surface and leaves the aggregate exposed.

There are a variety of color options available to choose from when you are considering Exposed Aggregate Concrete Finish. Once the aggregate is placed and finished, we expose the aggregate by spraying a chemical called surface retarder.

A surface deactivator is also used to extend the time-window before the surface paste is removed. Allowing the concrete to harden properly, allows the aggregate to lock in and minimize pop-outs.

Exposed Aggregate Finish is one of the more unique products we offer, and we suggest you contact us for any assistance you need when making your choice on Aggregate finish.

Stamped and Decorative Concrete Finish

A favorite at the moment is what we call Stamped Concrete finish. This type of finish can be designed to take any form or pattern such as wood, brick, stoke, or almost any pattern that you can imagine.

This concrete also has a small aggregate to make sure is it consistent. Large rubber mats are placed on the concrete to "stamp" the concrete with the pattern you have chosen.

The surface is power washed to remove excess release agents and then the concrete sealer is applied. Stamped Concrete is a true art piece of sheer beauty.
