Pre-emptive Maintenance

Concrete flooring is more prone to staining the other types of floors. Clean up spills as fast as possible to prevent the liquid from running through your polished surface and possibly causing permeant stains.

Always try to use warm water when working on your polished floors.

We advised you to also use a wax finish to protect your polished concrete floors.

Your floors can also be rebuffed to eradicate surface scrapes and general wear and tear in areas that are prone to more foot traffic.

The rebuffed and wax should be done by professionals, and who better than Halifax Concrete Refinishing.

What you should do when cleaning your Concrete Floors

As mentioned, several times, polished concrete floors do not need harsh chemicals to be cleaned. Stay away from any extremely strong cleaners, acids, and any substances that can strip away the concrete finish.

Only use mild detergents on your concrete finish, we have found that popular cleaners are liquid dish soap or castile soap if there needs to be a bit of scrubbing involved.

Our team will always advise on the cleaning of your floors should there be special care-taking instructions for your Polished concrete floor. Always start with sweeping or dust mopping your floors, this will remove and large and abrasive materials from your floor.

If you have a high finished polish you will see more dust build-up as oppose to a finish with a lower gloss finish. With a light detergent, warm water, and a mop… your floors will be looking smooth and sparkling clean in no time. We also recommend a very similar process for cleaning your exposed exterior and interior ICF walls.

What Not Do When Cleaning your Concrete Floor

Before you decide to rent a power washer or a pressure cleaner to try and blast away any stains or discoloration, stop and think about what kind of products you used in your cleaning routine.

Detergents containing ammonia or muriatic acid can cause severe damage to your polished floors, patio, or garage floors. We recommend not using any harsh chemicals on your polished concrete floors.

Maintenance on Damages and Evaluations

Maintenance on your concrete floors is essential, like any other area in your home or business contact maintenance will help prevent major renovation projects and will save you time and money.

We advise you to reseal your concrete floors every few years, proper resealing can prevent staining and discoloration from happening. Should you find that you have cracks or any other damages, it is best to contact us for an evaluation to assist with the correct process in any repair work.

Our team is all skilled, qualified professionals in the field and a small repair will save you from a much more costly revamp project.
